About
Amanda VanConant (Northrop) is a designer and mixed media artist from Grand Rapids, Michigan, now based in Las Vegas. She earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Grand Valley State University, where she developed a love of color theory, hand lettering, printmaking, and infographics. She began her career at Circle of Blue, creating data visualizations about the global water crisis that were shown at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.
Amanda spent seven years at Vox Media, working across social and editorial design and helping shape visual standards for ambitious journalism. Her favorite projects include Weather 2050, Supertrees, and 25 Episodes That Changed Television. She also art directed The Highlight for Apple News and designed the podcast series art for the Peabody nominated COVID Tracking Project.
Her work has been recognized nationally by the Scripps Howard Awards, Online Journalism Awards, and the Peabody Awards. Over more than a decade of freelance work, Amanda has partnered with clients including Grand Valley State University, Reveal, Endpoints News, Inman, and Baby's Bounty.
She is currently Digital Marketing Manager at the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, where she leads creative across digital, print, social media, paid campaigns, email, and events. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the city and nearby national parks with her husband, paints, plays drums, rollerblades, and gardens with the assistance of renowned horticulturalist Vino the cat.
Amanda believes the best work comes from clear direction, strong collaboration, and room for good ideas to grow. She is always interested in hearing from people and teams with ambitious projects in mind.
